Howdy Couchsession’s family! Here’s a music post that’s a little deeper then what we usually post, but considering how many of you are creative types always trying to look deeper I figure id give you some nourishing vegetables to chew on in addition to the pieces of candy we drop on the daily.
Years ago moving your record collection from one place to another would involve a car, now it requires a flash disk. Years ago recording a professional piece of music would require thousands of dollars worth of studio equipment and space, for many artists nowadays most of the heavy lifting is done on a laptop. While these technological changes have been great as far as improving the way we can easily consume and produce music, some things have gotten lost in the mix.
There’s a new documentary, “The Distortion of Sound” that covers some of these negative changes. You’ve got people like Quincy Jones to Lianne La Havas discussing the recording process and how it’s changed, sometimes for the worse, over the past few years. If you are a fan of music in general its an interesting look at how technology can change the art we create.
