Sir Sly are a trio of LA musicians who crank out electronic pop noir. “Expectations,” the first single from their forthcoming second LP, is a slow-burner with rewarding build. The combination of minimalist loops and singer Landon Jacobs’ reedy falsetto lends the track a conspicuous “Radiohead circa In Rainbows” vibe—even if the lyrics don’t quite measure up to Thom Yorke and co.
The video even features a piece of neon eerily reminiscent of a Pac-Man ghost. The spectral imagery is a familiar motif for the band, whose debut album (You Haunt Me) featured a single called “Ghost.” Turn off the lights, don your headphones, and join the paranormal party.
