MUSIC: MH the Verb & ArtHouse95 – Good Morning

Philly-based MC/producer MH the Verb re-enters the game with “Good Morning,” a joint that he and several members of his ArtHouse95 crew (Drusef, Mic Stew, and Kuf Knotz) crafted “during a cloudy studio session a couple years ago while reflecting on our daily grind and ambition as artists.”
If it feels like a dynamite intro track, it probably is: “Good Morning” is the first single from the forthcoming Arthouse95 Vol. 1 EP. It kicks off with a sample of Diana Ross singing the weepy standard “Good Morning Heartache”, but quickly picks up the mood from there. MH’s hook: “I wake up to red wine/So many bong hits, I hope that my head’s fine.” His shitty car won’t start but hey, more time to enjoy a cold morning walk to the metro (and spark one in the meantime).
This pervading optimistic feel rubs nicely against the track’s instrumental swagger. Simply put, you can’t put this one on and feel bad.
