I must have walked past Boilermaker a hundred times. From the outside it looks like any other bar, and well, yes, it is–however if you are looking for a deal in this city, you have to check it out.
Happy hour is one of my favorite things. There’s nothing better than a much needed (cheap!) drink, nice atmosphere, and even better, good food. Boilermaker has all of that.
The bar is lined with banquet tables that are so comfortable that it’s easy to stay past happy hour (which is until 8pm–even better). The atmosphere is a little dark and romantic and also a little divey, which in my opinion is kind of perfect.

During happy hour, cocktails are $8 and I have to say they are more than adequate. The wine is decent and around $7 and the only beer they have during happy hour is Brooklyn Lager at $4! Brooklyn Lager may not be my beer of choice, but it’s easy to drink and you can’t beat that price.
But what’s most surprising about this place is the food. It’s nearly impossible to find an above average burger for $8 but Boilermaker has done it. I would definitely consider it above average and if you are looking for a cheap spot that doesn’t really feel cheap, then you’ve found the right place.
