Preoccupations dropped down to Brooklyn New York to tour behind their recently released latest self-titled record. It’s the second time they have played in the Brooklyn since their name change from Viet Cong and with a new record under that moniker it’s a new beginning for the band. Their work under Viet Cong was a great moody mix of post punk and art rock with a heavy dose of electronics and Preoccupations pushes that sound even further forward. While drenched in light and smoke they tore the house down drawing primarily from the new record (but with a good amount of past album standouts). Band members switched instruments but kept the mood consistently dark but celebratory as the crowd cheered them on and sung along to the songs. Towards the end of the set the band had the lights turned up so they could formally raise up their drinks and cheer the crowd, their set was as much a celebration of what they were and what the future holds.
