FOOD: Iguana [NYC]

For my grandpa’s 86th birthday this past week, we went to hear some jazz and ended up at Iguana.  Every Monday and Tuesday nights there, Vince Giordano and the Nighthawks play.  They are an incredible jazz band that I’ve seen at other jazz clubs around the city but this was by far the most interesting venue for them.
I was unsure of how I felt about jazz and Mexican food–something about that combination seems a bit off to me.  But I had so much fun last night!  We knew the music was going to be great as always, but the food was awesome as well.  The band plays upstairs and they have a decent sized dance floor surrounded by tables.  We were a large party of 12 and were accommodated very nicely, right by the band.
To start, I had the lump crab quesadilla and oh my goodness it was so good.  I wish I had it right now.  For an entree I went with the fish tacos and they didn’t disappoint either.  I had a couple of glasses of wine, which for $10 were very good.
Everyone at the table seemed pleased with their orders and it all looked amazing.  The fajitas looked particularly good and the cocktails were huge!  I had a wonderful time here with my family and would definitely recommend coming here if you’re looking for something fun, different, and delicious to do.
