Mr. Exquire was subject to a fascinating article in Rollingstone(it’s a must read) that goes over the trials and tribulations of when an up and coming rapper goes through the major label shredder. It seems the sudden attention and pressure had the rapper doubting himself and along with major label pressure slightly derailed his path from his breakout song ‘Huzzuh’. He’s since regained his swagger and hit the ground running, first with documenting his brush with fame with “I Ain’t Even Fuck Rihanna”.
He’s been trickling new songs on his soundcloud, but my favorite is ‘Jersey’ which kind of encompasses what makes eXquire so great; it’s filthy, funny, honest and sad at the same time. Listen below.
