Queens’ finally has its own flea market and food fair hybrid with the borough’s newest summer addition – LIC Flea and Food. Like a mini-version of Brooklyn Flea and Smorgasburg rolled into one, LIC Flea & Food boasts local fare in both the culinary and shopping department, as well as live entertainment. Food vendors include Oaxaca Taqueria (where I enjoyed carnitas and fish tacos), Horman’s Pickles, J.J.’s Asian Fusion, Alobar Restaurant, and much more. My favorite: the bicycle-churned ice by Ice Riders. If you’re in the area visiting 5 Pointz or Warm Up at PS1 MOMA, stop by if you’re looking for a quality bite to eat.
LIC Flea & Food will run every Saturday and Sunday this summer from 10 am-6 pm at 5-25 46th Avenue in Long Island City. For more information, visit their website.
