So there were two articles in today’s Washington Post about the Oscar winning song “It’s Hard Out Here For a Pimp” from the film Hustle & Flow. One looks at
the mixed emotions from those who feel the song only promotes stereotypes as well as those who feel the song is a step up for Hip Hop. The other looks at cultural nuances and how the can be mis-used and mis-informed.
Personally, I felt that the performance of the song was cheesy. I mean, what happens when you take a rap song about the hard life of a pimp and make it family entertainment?
You get ballet dancing hos and thugs.

It was like West Side Story except more Crunk.
